Chapter Eleven

The Long Sword of Liberation

The sun was now peeking over the mountains to the west, casting a golden glow upon the land and causing many creatures to stir, while causing others to rest.  The wind began to blow through the treetops, causing the brambles to gently sway.  The swaying was just enough to evoke consciousness in one of the female Chipmunks, and not one that had been a chipmunk for more than twenty four hours.

Lora’s grey eyes opened slowly.  She looked at her surroundings, to find that the girls were still sleeping.  She looked down to the floor, and her eyes began to widen.  Urgently she dove from her perch and onto the neighboring bramble where the boys slept.  The boys were sleeping together, with the green clad chipmunk in the middle.  Were his brothers protecting him, or was this the way they always slept?  That didn’t matter now.  Lora recalled that the green clad one held the flute.  She placed her paws on his shoulders and began to push and pull at his strange emerald garb.

“Chosen one,” she said, urgently shaking him.

“Five more minutes, Dave,” said the boy.  Lora was confused: Dave?  A name she had never heard before.

“I do not know anyone called ‘Dave’,” said the Zenkradian, “I am Lora.”  After a few more shakes, the chipmunk opened his eyes.

“What’s wrong, Lora?” he asked, looking at her with concern.

“Where is Freedom Fighter?”

“He’s down there,” Theodore began to point, but on looking down, he did not locate the giant.  His eyes widened with panic, as he shook his brothers awake.

“Guys!” He cried, “Freedom Fighter’s missing.”  His shouts were enough to wake the other chipmunks, as well as animals in other trees.

“What do you mean Freedom Fighter’s missing?” demanded Alvin.

“I mean that,” Theodore began, but Simon cut him off.

“Play the flute, Theodore.”  Theodore recalled the flute in his jacket pocket and removed it, before playing the beautiful melody to summon Freedom Fighter.  For a moment or two, nothing happened, but before the animals could say or do anything, a few branches below them began to shake slightly.  Before anyone had time to question it, there stood the robot they were looking for, as it looked up at them.

“I am sorry, Master Theodore,” said the robot, “I was testing out my newly repaired legs, and I must say, you and your brothers did a superb job at repairing them.  Also, I have a message for the one known as Alvin.”

“What is it?”  Asked Theodore.  To the rest, Theodore was just looking at the robot, but they trusted him that he was able to talk to it.  Theodore faced Alvin.

“Freedom Fighter says you are no longer allowed to pilot him.”  Alvin’s eyes widened,

“Why?” He asked, bewildered?

“Why do you think?” demanded Brittany, who had just joined them on the bramble in question,

“He also says,” continued Theodore like this banter didn’t exist, “that due to his grace and skill with mechanics, Simon is now the official mechanic and the second choice of pilot after me.”  Simon beamed, but his face turned serious.

“If we’re all awake,” he said, seeing that Jeanette and Eleanor had also joined them, “Let’s eat and keep going.”  And so it was that after a quick meal, the Chosen Heroes and their ally climbed down the tree and everyone took up positions in the robot.  Lora, finding there wasn’t a seventh chair for her, decided to climb to the shoulder of the robot and turn to an owl to stand as lookout for any trouble.  And so the steel titanic began to walk in the direction that Brittany’s compass was pointing.

“Where are heading today?” asked Alvin, seeing the needle point in a direction that seemed random to him.  Brittany raised a brow.

“I…don’t know.”  She confessed.  Suddenly, Lara began to yell and scream.  Meanwhile, a voice sounded in Theodore’s ears.

“Master Theodore, hostile entity detected!  Battle Mode engaged.”

“Simon,” Yelled Theodore, get in the pilot’s chair.”  Simon scrambled for the chair and buckled himself in.  Alvin and Eleanor took up the arm controls, while Theodore, Jeanette, And Brittany took up a computer like area in the back.  Jeanette’s panel looked like it was the general operations of Freedom Fighter.  Theodore ended up with weapons systems, which included ammunition, heat meter, and whether or not the weapons were working at all.  Brittany ended up in a spot that seemed to have a small alcove.  It was the exact size of the compass.  Brittany placed the compass inside, and suddenly, the board lit up brightly in the amber brown color.

“Guys,” said Brittany, who sounded alarmed, “The hostile entity is…Triden!”  Alarm spread through the six chipmunks.  Before anyone could say anything, there stood the wizard.  He was nearly as tall as their robot.  His robes were black as sin.  His white hair was long and ran down to his shoulders, but looked like it would wither at the slightest tap.  His eyes were blood red, and he smirked at them, showing his disgusting teeth, that looked razor sharp, but were crooked and sun-bleached.  His fingers looked gnarled and his nails also looked razor sharp.

“Hello,” he said to them, “heroes.”  His voice was calm and level.

“So,” said Alvin, “ready to have your butt kicked so we can save this world and go home?”  Triden didn’t seem moved by the threat, he merely chuckled.

“You seem sure of yourself,” he mused.  “Would you like to test that?”  Triden’s fists began to glow in a shade of grey.  Simon slammed the wheel forward and Freedom Fighter charged.  Triden smirked.  Suddenly he disappeared from view.

“He’s behind—” Brittany began to yell, but suddenly the titanic jerked forward, slamming Eleanor and Alvin into the wall, and Simon jerking into his seatbelt.

“Is that all you’ve got?” asked Triden, from behind them.  Simon tried to turn Freedom Fighter around quickly, and even though he succeeded, he was startled when Triden was right in their faces.  He grabbed the robot by the neck and lifted it up.  He threw the robot to the ground.  Everyone, save for Simon, flew every which way.  Simon tried to get up, but Triden stomped on the robot’s torso and prevented him from doing so.

“That was pathetic.” Said Triden, sneering at them, “I could destroy you here and now.  It would be so easy.”  Suddenly, Triden whipped around and grabbed something else.  He slammed it on the ground next to them.  Recognition happened instantly.  Lora! She was in the shape of a huge bear, but she too was helpless against the tyrant wizard.  The heroes squeezed their eyes shut and waited for him to finish them.

But he didn’t.  When Simon dared to open his eyes again, Triden was hoisting the robot back to its feet.  Everyone looked at each other in confusion.

“That was far too easy.”  He said to them, “I want a challenge, I don’t want you to die like that when I’ve not even broken a sweat.  So I’ll let you in on a secret.  There is a weapon, far to the north, in the realm of Aquatia.  It is called the Long Sword of Liberation, custom built for your living armor.  It is deep within the ocean that is the realm.  Go to the island where the vegitation grows red, stand on the east bank of said island, and allow yourselves to sink into the water.  AT the very bottom the sword lays.

“It can increase the fighting abilities of your robot tenfold, and make it invincible.  Meanwhile, the sword can cut through just about anything.  But be warned, furry ones, for something down there had it first.  And it’s not interested in sharing.  Go get that sword, and then come and fight me again, for you will then stand a chance.”

“How do we know we can trust your words after you tried to kill us?” Demanded Brittany.

“First off,” said Triden, “I didn’t try to kill you.  I was merely showing you just what you’re facing.  Second, you don’t.  But look at your options.  You can trust me, look for the sword, and perhaps improve your chances of defeating me, or fight me again, knowing I may not be so merciful.”  Triden fell silent to allow the words to sink in.  Finally Simon said,

“We’ll get that sword, and we will defeat you.”  Triden laughed,

“We’ll see.”  And then he was gone.

“Where are you guys?” demanded Dave, as he strolled around the house.  He found their game system was still on and running.  He grumbled to himself, deciding to yell at them later, and hit the power button.  But that was strange, because the light on the system stubbornly remained on.  Dave removed the power cord from the back of the system, and even then the system was on.

“Don’t try to turn it off,” said a voice from nowhere.  Dave was startled.  He looked to find a face in the screen.

“I know where your…children are.”  Said the face, with blood red eyes and crooked Sun Bleached teeth.

“Okay, I’ll bite,” said Dave.  “Where are they?”  Suddenly, a hand shot from the screen and grabbed Dave’s leg.

“They’re in here with me!” Yelled the face, and Dave found himself being pulled through the glass.

The next thing Dave knew, he was laying face down on stone cold ground.

“The chosen ones need motivation.”  Said the monster faced man, “so you are mine!”
The Chipmunks finall meet Triden face to face, and a brawl ensues.  Triden wins but tells the heroes of a sword that may help them.

Great chapter, as usual! I laughed out loud at the part where Alvin got banned from piloting. :XD:

So now Dave has entered this mess.  What is Triden up to?  Guess we'll find out in the next chapter. ;)
