Missing Bugs.

Lola sat in the condo she and the Late Bugs Bunny shared.  She was really trying to cope with his passing, but nothing she did worked for long.  At some point, it came back into her head that Bugs Bunny, comedy Legend and Icon for kids and adults alike, died, while she could do nothing to save him.

It all began when the pair were granted summer off from their jobs, and they went to Florida and rented a condo.  What they hadn't counted on was the hurricanes that are a bane to Floridians.  As the pair took a walk on the beach one day, they saw a small cloud.  A little later, the wind began to kick up, and soon they had to lean to walk.  Before long, the wind was strong enough to knock them on their butts.  Lola was able to grab a palm tree and cling to it until the wind died down enough for her to let go without being blown to China.  She thanked her lucky stars the tree was not uprooted in the wind.

She then searched the wrecked beach for any sign of Bugs.  She was hoping he would pop up, but so far, that wasn't the case.  When she got to the Condo, somehow spared from the wind, she saw a red object that caught her eye: Bugs' cap.  Bugs had bought it on the trip here to keep the sun off his face and ears, and he and the hat had never parted since he left that store.  Now Lola knew what had happened: Bugs had got the full extent of the hurricane's wrath.  She went inside the Condo, and cried.  She cried until her tear ducts were no longer able to produce tears for the time being.

She missed his voice, his sense of humor.  She had hated when he was sarcastic is serious situations, but now it was the thing she missed the most.

When a visitor came by, she would not have them, and shoo them away.  She skipped meals, either lost sleep or got too much, and began to not care that her body had green stink lines coming off of it.

Lola was sitting with her knees clenched into her chest, her face to her knees, another round of waterworks underway.  The door opened.  She ignored whoever it was, assuming they would leave.  Suddenly, a hand was placed on her shoulder, and she heard the all too familiar sound of a carrot being crunched,

"Eh," said a voice that she thought she would never hear again, "What's up, doc?"

That voice she thought, no, it couldn't be…Could it?  She looked.  Lo and behold, she was looking at Bugs.  In an instant, she sprang into his arms, and the pair shared a warm embrace.

When Bugs had been blown away, he managed to fall into a ditch that was five miles from where he had to go.  Since his hands were too sore to dig, he was forced to walk, but got lost.  He found a few fans who gave him a ride to the condo after two weeks of walking, living off what he could find.  The couple's first order of business: Go to the diner, AFTER Lola made herself presentable.
My entrant for the contest over at :iconbugsbunnyclub: Lola and Bugs go to Florida for their summer vacation, but a hurricane separates the pair. When Lola finds no sign of Bugs, she's conviced that he's gone to that big rabbit hole in the sky. Bugs later returns, and Lola's depression ends.
